The Product: Creating Your Sound

Although many musicians would wince at the thought of being called a product, this is the reality of being successful in the music industry, whether your targets are for increased live revenue, record sales, or publishing royalties: in most cases it’s all of the above. Our primary focus is to know what your strengths are and work on the product itself, i.e. your demo recordings or planned released material. We will tell you if basic things are going wrong: if your drummer is dodgy, if you are singing out of tune, or if the writing / arranging needs improvement. We will then help you develop a unique but market-savvy sound for your band, and give you advice on your live shows too. Note, the focus is always on setting, not following trends, but knowing what you do best and who you might be associated with is very important.

Taking Your Product To Market

Once the music side of things is taken care of, we can then take you by the hand and guide you through your release and marketing schedule, to get the product to market. Whilst there are obviously no guarantees in a competitive arts industry, we can help you market yourself to your maximum strength, by recommending the right radio pluggers, press contacts, booking agents, managers, stylists, photographers, the works. We can also help you come up with a short and long term plan so that you know when to do what; it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the choices of where to focus your energy.
